Gas leak forces evacuation of more than a dozen KCK homes

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A construction crew struck a natural gas line and the gas leak forced the evacuation of more than a dozen Kansas City, Kan., homes.

The incident happened about 9:15 a.m. in the 2700 block of North 21st Street. Residents in 17 homes were asked to leave.

Police closed 21st Street between Longwood and Georgia, a fire department spokesman said.

The crew was there to repair a sewer line and stuck a three-inch service line.

No injuries were reported.
