KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Investigators want to know if a man found dead Sunday is the latest victim of the heat wave.
A family member went to check on the 72-year-old man Sunday and found him dead inside a house in the 2500 of South 52nd Street, according to a Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.
The home did not have a working air conditioner or fans.
There was no sign of foul play, according to the fire department spokesman.
The man did have other medical problems, the fire department spokesman said. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
According to the Kansas City Fire Department, emergency responders have handled 11 heat-related calls since midnight Sunday.
The man's name has not been released.
