KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged in the crash that killed a 8-year-old girl.
Wyandotte Co. Prosecutor Jerome A. Gorman has charged Tyrone Murphy, Jr., of KCK, with first degree murder for the April 9 crash that killed 8-year-old Jasmine Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was a passenger in a van that was hit when Murphy ran a red light, while fleeing from Kansas City Kansas Police.
Murphy has also been charged with possession of cocaine, eluding a police officer, and three counts of aggravated battery after Rodriguez’s mother and two others were injured.
Murphy is currently in custody of the Wyandotte County Jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bond.
