KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A local jazz band’s talents are punching their tickets to paradise.
The Kansas City, Kan., Community College Jazz Band is playing in the 2014 Havana International Jazz Festival this December.
The trip will cost about $60,000 so the community college band is working hard fundraising. On Wednesday, they performed a concert to raise money.
"We have to make it doable. This is not the kind of opportunity that will happen next year or two or three years down the road. This is a one-shot deal and we definitely need to make it a reality," Director of Instrumental Music Jim Mair said.
The trip is also open to people living in the Wyandotte County community; however, those interested would need to pay their own way.
