The Kansas Department of Transportation says the damage looks much worse than it is.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A tip on Facebook about concerns over the safety of a KCK bridge prompted 41 Action News reporter Mitch Weber to look into the issue.
It turns out the tipster wasn't the only person concerned. Several people have contacted KDOT over the damage.
The bridge in question is at the Turner Diagonal along westbound Interstate 70.
On the morning of Aug. 17, a dump truck ran into the bridge, causing extensive damage.
It looks like this concrete is loose. However, KDOT tells 41 Action News that all of the loose concrete that could be a danger has been removed.
Traffic can go underneath the bridge, but barriers have been put in place so driver on the bridge doesn't go over the spot that's damaged.
KDOT inspectors are waiting on parts to arrive so repairs can be made to the damaged bridge structure.
Repairs are expected to be made in early November.
