KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Police have a man in custody and removed three children from a home in Kansas City, Kansas.

Around 2 p.m., a Department for Children and Families worker and a Wyandotte County Sheriff's deputy went to a home near 10th Street and Custer Avenue to remove three children, ages 5, 3, and 9 months.

A 51-year-old man refused to let them inside and slammed the door in their faces. That’s when the DCF worker called the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office for help.

The conditions in the home are reportedly deplorable.

Later Wednesday afternoon, a woman and baby left the home.

Police then took the man into custody, and officials brought the other two children out of the house.
