Power restored to nearly all affected in Rosedale BPU outage

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - UPDATE, 11:20 a.m.: Most of those affected by this morning's power outage have since had power restored, including at the University of Kansas Hospital.

ORIGINAL STORY: Nearly 1,000 BPU customers are without power in the Rosedale area after problems at a substation.

Crews are on the scene and hope to have power restored before noon. Rosedale Middle School and Frank Rushton Elementary are impacted, but school officials said class is in session as usual.

University of Kansas Hospital is also impacted. They are delaying any new procedures until regular power is restored. They are also diverting emergency patients to other hospitals. The hospital says it is using generators until regular power is restored.

Oklahoma Joe's is also affected by the power outage. A staffer there said they were unsure if they could serve lunch at its normally scheduled opening time of 11 a.m.
