KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A local Kansas school received top-notch ratings this week for student performance.
The Washington Post and the US News and World Report ranked Sumner Academy as the best high school in Kansas, as well as offering the most challenging curriculum in the state.
The school, located in Kansas City, Kan., was ranked based on college prep courses and student performance on standardized tests.
Students at the school say it's all about positive peer pressure.
Nationally, the Post ranked Sumner Academy 64th out of 21,000 schools, ranking 19th among schools located in the Midwest.
Six of the top seven high schools in Kansas are located in the Kansas City metro. The area's top-rated school in MIssouri was Park Hill High School, which ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 711 overall.
