LAWRENCE, Kan. - Some in Lawrence are questioning the $30 million price tag for a proposed police headquarters.
City commissioners want to pay for it with a .2 percent sales tax for 20 years.
Police say they need a bigger facility with more officers and cars because violent crime is happening more often.
"It is taxing our resources as a police department very significantly. The one thing we do is we work very hard to solve each of these crimes,” Sgt. Trent McKinley said.
Commissioners are expected to discuss the proposal again next week.
