Fire damages Johnson County house

OLATHE, Kan. - Firefighters battled a blaze at a home in Olathe Wednesday morning.

Calls came in about 4 a.m. to the home in the 14000 block of Cottonwood in Olathe.

Smoke and fire were showing from the roof when crews arrived.

Firefighters had to first battle the fire defensively. Crews entered the home with a primary line at about 4:20 a.m. with flames still showing from the roof.

A spokesman with the Olathe Fire Department said they fire was put under control in about 45 minutes. The damage was mostly contained to the roof and second floor, he said.

Nobody was in the home when the fire started. It was not immediately clear if anybody lived there. There were no reports of any injuries.
