OLATHE, Kan. - The Olathe City Council has decided against the proposed development near 143rd Street and Pflumm that would add more than 250 homes and a dozen businesses.
Hundreds of Olathe neighbors made their case before council members to halt the Wheatley Hills project would be built on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Residents living in four neighborhoods were concerned about the additional traffic that the homes and businesses would bring to the area.
The council voted 7-0 against the commercial development, and 4-3 to approve the residential plan. However, 6 were needed to pass the plan because there was a protest petition.
