Police say 12-year-old injured 16-year-old after putting truck in gear

A 16-year-old was injured after his 12-year-old brother put a truck in gear and struck him on Saturday, according to Olathe police.
The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. at 928 South Troost.
Family members said the 12-year-old boy was trying to park a pickup truck after he somehow got the keys. He put the truck in gear, slammed into the side of the house and struck his 16-year-old brother on the other side.
Their sister, Oliveria Ortiz, was in the kitchen at the time and saw her brother pinned against the pickup truck.
"He wasn't moving cause he says it hurts so we put the car in the 'R' to move it back and that helped him to get him out," Ortiz said.
The 16-year-old is in stable condition at a hospital. The family said the teen suffered a broken arm and leg.
The investigation is continuing.
