The 95th Street and I-35 interchange and some surrounding streets will be closed starting mid-February to construct a new diverging diamond interchange.

According to a news release from the Oak Park Mall, all ramps to and from I-35 and 95th Street from Noland Road to Monrovia Street will be closed. Alternate access routes to the mall include:

  • 87th Street to Quivira Road
  • I-435 to Quivira Road
  • US 69 Highway to 95th Street

Officials did not give an exact date for the start of the road closures.

The new interchange will be rebuilt as a diverging diamond interchange that will create easier access to and from the interstate and improve access to the mall, according to the news release. The reconstruction and improvements also include the addition of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings and new lighting.

“Our priority is to give our shoppers an exceptional experience when visiting our mall,” said Karla Engel, general manager of Oak Park Mall, in the news release. “We want shoppers to be aware of all traffic pattern changes and be prepared for detours as they plan upcoming shopping trips.”

Mall hours during the roadway construction will remain as Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the news release.
