OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Two of the victims killed in Sunday’s deadly shooting at the Jewish Community Center have been identified.
A statement on behalf of the Corporon and Losen family was released Sunday evening, identifying the victims as Dr. William Lewis Corporon and Reat Griffin Underwood (Losen). Mr. Corporon was Reat’s grandfather.
Corporon had taken Reat to audition for KC Superstars, which was held at the center's theater.
Dr. Corporon practiced family medicine in Marlow and Duncan Okla., from 1976 to 2003, according to the statement. He and his wife of 49 years moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to their grandchildren. He was a devoted family man and cherished his family more than anything, the statement adds.
14-year-old Reat was a freshman at Blue Valley High School. He participated in debate, theatre, and had a beautiful voice, the family statement reads. He was also an Eagle Scout.
Reat and his grandfather spent time camping and hunting, and were proud supporters of the University of Oklahoma.
The family thanked their friends, family, the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and school communities for their support.
The family has asked for privacy as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.
