Police: Husband, wife killed after teen runs stop sign in Overland Park

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - A married couple was killed Thursday afternoon when a driver reportedly ran a stop sign and slammed into their vehicle in Overland Park.

Police said a 19-year-old male was heading south on Mastin Street and ran a stop sign at the 79th Street intersection. His gray Mitsubishi Eclipse slammed into the couples' white Cadillac Deville, which was traveling eastbound on 79th Street.

Norman J. Russell, 86, and Norma F. Russell, 80, were transported to a local hospital where they died.

A 19-year-old passenger in the Eclipse was treated for minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
