DOUGLAS COUNTY, Kan. - A pilot who crashed last summer in Douglas County was reunited with those who saved his life.
On Thursday, Dennis McNish returned to KU Med. Last May, he spent more than two weeks in the surgical ICU after crashing his plane near Lawrence.
He said on the one-year anniversary of the accident, he wanted to thank the doctors who gave him a second chance at life.
“They kind of became my family. They took real good care of me, so they deserve all of the credit and I’m just here to tell them thank you one more time,” McNish said.
He said he’s given up flying.
