LAWRENCE, Kan. - It is a story the Lawrence Public Library does not want any part of anymore.
Friends of the Lawrence Public Library had to cancel its book fair last week because of a bed bug infestation.
The library planned to sell thousands of books until it realized a donor had given books infested with bedbugs.
The books had already been mixed in the collection. Organizers said they would like to save some of the books to salvage any possible money lost.
The money raised from book fairs is used for giveaways and summer reading programs.
The campaign has already taken in about $600 in donations, according to Kathleen Morgan, executive director for the Lawrence Public Library Foundation. To donate to the library, go to http://bit.ly/19ulDKt.
