One local boy is becoming the new face of marble competitions in the metro
SHAWNEE, Kan. - He's taking area marble competitions by storm and he's only 8-years-old.
Hunter Calkins of Shawnee, Kan., is the new face of marble competitions in the metro.
The soon-to-be third grader recently took first place in three major marble tournaments, including Bonner Springs' annual Marble Day Tournament and the Toy and Miniature Museum Regional Tournament.
He beat out more than 300 people, including adults.
While Calkins has only been competing a short time, he has high ambitions.
"Go against older people and try to win. And just have some fun," Calkins said.
Calkins also likes to play pee wee football and pool and has a large collection of marbles.
