LAWRENCE, Kan. - Friends and family of 23-year-old Gianfranco Villagomez have questions about where his body was found.
Police said they don't know how his body ended up behind a house in the 800 block of Avalon Road, about a mile from where he was last seen.
"The autopsy is still pending but the identification stage has been completed," Trent McKinley with the Lawrence Police Department said Tuesday.
Villagomez went to a party Saturday and was supposed to head to his girlfriend's house, but never made it there.
His girlfriend Donna Harkrider reported him missing Saturday night to police after he didn't show up or respond to her phone calls.
Friends formed a search party and searched for him all weekend.
"He sees himself as kind of my protector. He would be there for me if I needed him so he would not have wandered off on his own," Harkrider said.
His body was found around 1:30 Monday afternoon.
