DE SOTO, Kan. - A water main break in De Soto has left six businesses and 100 customers without water, and has forced three schools to cancel classes.
De Soto High School, Lexington Trails Middle School and Starside Elementary have all canceled classes for Monday.
City Administrator Patrick Gilfoyle said shortly after 2 a.m., the water plant indicated low pressure somewhere in the system.
Crews responded and found an eight- to 10-inch water main break at 90th and Lexington.
The district says they weren't notified until 6:45 a.m., and they began notifying parents around 6:55 a.m.
Workers are on scene working to repair the break, which they estimate could take 2 to 3 hours.
Water has been re-routed and customers should see water pressure increase shortly. A boil order has been issued until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
