A $35 million project is expected to bring warehouses and jobs to Wyandotte County

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Western Wyandotte County is on track to see an economic boost complete with several new jobs.

Jones Development Company plans to begin building a series of new industrial warehouses this year near the Village West and Kansas Speedway.

The buildings will be within a mile of Intestates 70 and 435 in Kansas City, Kan.

It will total 550-thousand square feet, which equals nine to ten football fields.

Company officials say the business who use will use the warehouses, will likely be from somewhere else in the United States and plan to bring business here.

"The numbers will depend on the particular user, we expect this so be distribution space, but there should be a number of new jobs that come to the area," said Kevin Jones, President of the Jones Development Company

The company plans to break ground on the $35 million project in the fall.

Construction is expected to wrap up in the Spring of 2013.
