GRANDVIEW, Mo. - Wednesday was a great day to be a Grandview student as the district celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Schools hung banners, burned time capsules and held talent shows to celebrate and even launched balloons with special tags attached. Teachers hope to get the community involved in the district.
“The tag has the student’s name, the name of our school and our Twitter address. So, we’re hoping that if someone finds that balloon, we can track how far it traveled. Students can probably correspond with that person that collected the balloon and perhaps they can follow us on Twitter,” Conn West Elementary School Principal LaTanya Franklin said.
The events were largely a surprise for students because teachers didn’t tell them what was going on until the day before.
