VIDEO: Police search for group of teens who robbed disable Grandview vet's home twice in two days

Men stole guns, ammo; victim struck in head

GRANDVIEW, Mo. - An 85-year-old veteran answered his door to a 41 Action News reporter armed with a hand gun, still shaken up because twice this week when he's answered his door he's been robbed by a gang of young men.

Grandview police want residents to look at surveillance video, hoping to catch these guys before they come back a third time.

The video shows two young men approach a Grandview home around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, with one knocking on the door while the other stands guard.

When the disabled veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars answers the door, the first young man enters, followed by the second.

Less than a minute later, they run. But back out front of the house, they round up the rest of their gang.

Minutes later, seven suspects rush to the door, where inside police say they hit the homeowner in the head.

They also stole two handguns and a rifle, but that is not on the video because the suspects use a ladder to turn the security camera down at the ground.

Two days later, the home was struck again. Video shows the homeowner answer the door and a young man says something before pulling a gun and forcing the homeowner in the house.

Within seconds, three more suspects rush the house, and three more guys come running from down the street.

Soon it's five, six, seven individuals inside, and two more running up from another car.

That makes nine suspects - teenagers to men in their early 20s - inside.

Barely 40 seconds later, the men rushed out carrying several weapons from the victim's gun collection, along with a case of ammunition too heavy for one guy to carry by himself.

Grandview police are actively searching for these suspects. In the second robbery, they drove a mid-2000 model red Chevrolet Impala and a silver PT Cruiser with tinted windows. Anyone with any information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
