Officer-involved shooting in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Four people are in custody following a pursuit with police after a routine traffic stop that led to an Independence police officer firing shots as the suspects.

Police tell 41 Action News a car fled from police at Ayers and Northern, and the driver attempted to run over authorities. The officer fired shots at the car as it fled the scene.

After a short pursuit, those inside the car bailed at 2400 Harvard. Two men and a woman were arrested. Another man darted from the scene and was found later Tuesday morning in a McDonald's bathroom.

No one was injured.
