INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - A decades-old tradition is going on this holiday weekend in Independence.
Santa-Cali-Gon Days are in their 42nd year.
It celebrates the start of three major trails in Independence- the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails.
There's a carnival, arts, crafts, antiques, music and food.
The best part is that there's no cost for admission.
"It's a great way to spend the day and really, you know, you can keep change in your pocket when you do that. The food is phenomenal this year, I've tried it all. It's a very affordable place for a family to spend the weekend," Lois McDonald with the Independence Chamber of Commerce said.
Santa-Cali-Gon Days goes until 11 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
