On Memorial Day the Truman High School Choir will perform in front of thousands at Carnegie Hall.

For seniors Ethan McAuley and Daniela Mendoza, preparations started a year ago.

Kim Carson is the Director of Vocal Music for Truman High School and said her graduate school professor extended the invitation.

“That’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” McAuley told 41 Action News. “And if I get the choice to go there, God, I’m going to take it. I’m going to take it in a snap.”

Mendoza shares that excitement.

“When you see people professionally singing at places like Carnegie Hall, you don’t expect high school students to be doing that and the fact we get to be doing that at our age is incredible," Mendoza said.
