The Jackson County Legislature selected Frank White to serve as Jackson County Executive for the remainder of 2016, according to a news release from the Jackson County Courthouse.

The news release states White, who has served as County Legislator, 1st District at Large since January 2015, was appointed with the County Charter process to replace Mike Sanders, who resigned as of Jan. 5.

White was sworn in at the Historic Truman Courthouse.

“I am humbled by the support of my colleagues,” said White.  “I am looking forward to working with the administrative team to continue the successes of the past few years. Our county employees are hard-working, and making sure they have the tools they need to serve our residents will be one of my top priorities.”

As a County Legislator, White chaired the Land Use Committee and served on the Budget, Health & Environment and Public Works committees.

According to the news release, White was a laborer and helped build Kauffman Stadium, where he spent 18 years as a Royal.

The news release states elections will be held in August (Primary) and November (General) to fill the remainder of Sanders’ term through 2018.
