North Kansas City approves construction of new dog park

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A new dog park is in the works for North Kansas City.

The city council approved $270,000 to build the facility. The new dog park will be built on four acres near Swift and 32nd avenue.

Residents said they're excited to finally have a place where their dogs can frolic without a leash.

"There's a grassroots effort that's been formed to bring this about in the Northland," said Dave Schnoebelen, the North Kansas City Parks and Recreation director. "It's been pretty exciting.  We're really happy."

Work on the new dog park is expected to start in late spring or early summer.
