WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Two suspects have been taken into custody after a mother and her seven-year-old son were allegedly kidnapped in a Warrensburg, Mo., Walmart parking lot around 8 p.m. Thursday.
According to a new release from the Warrensburg Police Department, the Alan E. Briscoe, 23, and Kevin A. Ratte, 21, forced the mother to hand over her money and drive to an ATM to withdraw more.
The two then ordered the mother to drive north of Warrensburg while threatening to rape her and kill her son.
The mother and her son were forced to lay face down in a field while the suspects stole the mother's car.
Johnson County Prosecutor Lynn Stoppy in Warrensburg, Mo., charged the two men with the kidnapping Friday evening.
"This is a wake up call that even though you are shopping with your children, you are still not safe. You need to make sure when you get in the car to lock your doors right away," Stoppy said.
