Hackers' next target: cellphones

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Most people protect their computers from viruses, but smart phones are also at risk of being attacked.

University of Missouri-Kansas City computer science professor Vijay Kumar said hackers are always one step ahead of security designers. If you do want to add anti-virus software to your cellphone, you'll likely trade off battery life.

"Every half an hour you have to charge the battery because you want to make it fully secure," Kumar said.

Even though mobile phones are not the prime target right now, Kumar suggests that users who send sensitive information through text or email develop a code with those who are receiving it so strangers won't be able to take advantage of it.
