WICHITA, Kansas - Zookeepers in Wichita got a surprise over the weekend when the chimps in the zoo figured out how to unlock their cage and go for a walk.
A Sedgwick county zookeeper left a door unsecured on Saturday night and with their opposable thumbs and clever brains the chimps figured out away to open it. But ... They didn't get far.
“Our keepers were greeted warmly on sunday morning by one of our chimps - our long time resident marbles...if you know marbles that's not necessarily unusual but marbles wasn't where he was supposed to be,” said Christan Baumer of the Sedgwick County Zoo.
The chimps only made it to a secondary secured area. They were rounded up and put back where they belong.
