Six Kansas tickets hit $10,000 in Powerball drawing on November 28, 2012

Winning numbers: 5-23-16-22-29, Powerball 6

The state of Kansas doesn't have a big winner like it did in March's $656 million Mega Millions drawing, but six people who bought Powerball tickets are $10,000 richer.

Six tickets from the Sunflower State hit the first five numbers of Wednesday's record Powerball drawing. The jackpot, an estimated $579.9 million, will be split between winning tickets purchased in Missouri and Arizona.

Four of the $10,000 winners in Kansas were sold in the state's northeast lottery region, which includes most of the counties in the greater Kansas City area.

The other two $10,000 winners were sold in south-central Kansas. For a map of Kansas' lottery regions, visit: .

Kansas lottery players spent a total of $5.4 million on tickets for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing. That greatly outpaces the previous record of nearly $3.5 million for the March 30 Mega Millions drawing that had a jackpot of $656 million.

An unidentified Franklin County, Kan., resident won one-third of that jackpot, splitting the prize with winners from Maryland and Illinois.
