Vote to help Kan. student win $30,000 Google scholarship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas high school student is now a finalist for a $30,000 college scholarship – all thanks to a doodle.

Baldwin High School senior Tucker Brown was recently named the Kansas winner in the Doodle 4 Google contest, in which students across the U.S. submitted drawings to redesign Google's homepage logo. This year's theme: "If I could travel in time, I'd visit…"

If Brown wins the entire contest, he'll get the scholarship money and an all-expense paid trip to New York City. His school would also win a $50,000 technology grant.

Tucker said it took him two months to create his submission.

"I knew it was good and I knew I liked the way it was, but I never had any idea I'd be this far, be where I am right now," he said.

Voting ends Thursday.
