The race of homecoming king at the University of Missouri takes a unique turn when a female student decides to run for the crown.
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The race of homecoming king at the University of Missouri is taking a unique turn. A female student has decided to run for the crown.
Senior Josie Hererra says she identifies more masculine than feminine. She says she's proud to be running a campaign that could change the future for other people like her.
"I know I only represent myself as a person but at the same time, I am representing a community and that is a lot of different communities," Hererra said.
A friend gave her the idea to run for homecoming king last semester.
University of Missouri's homecoming is October 26, where they will announce the winner during halftime.
