SALINE COUNTY, Mo. - Four firefighters and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper responding to an accident were injured when a another vehicle cross the median on Interstate 70 Saturday afternoon.
According the Collin Strosberg with the Missouri Highway Patrol, the vehicle was headed eastbound on Interstate 70 going too fast for the road conditions when it ran off the highway, over the median cable and into the emergency crews. The accident happened near mile marker 77 in Saline County, near Marshall.
Two of the firefighters suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and were taken to Columbia for treatment. The other two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated in Marshall. The trooper suffered minor injuries when he jumped down an embankment to avoid being hit.
The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
