JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Governor Jay Nixon is starting the day in prayer before joining a parade for his inaugural celebration.
Nixon is to take the oath of office at noon Monday for his second term as governor. The other winners of last November's elections also are to be sworn in Monday as lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer and attorney general.
It will be a full day of events. And it's forecast to be cold.
The morning parade features 10 marching bands, mascots for Missouri's major sports teams and entrants from various military, fire, and police units.
After the outdoor inauguration, Nixon plans to warm up guests with a reception at the Governor's Mansion and free barbecue at a nearby hotel. Later that night, the Capitol will host an inaugural ball.
