EDGERTON, Mo. - Two Edgerton, Mo., sisters who were brutally murdered were laid to rest on Friday night.
Police found the bodies of Britny Haarup, 19, and Ashley Key, 22, beaten to death last weekend.
But family and friends chose to celebrate the sisters' lives at the funeral services, with everyone who attended wearing bright colors and vowing to carry on their memory for their three young daughters.
Haarup's two young daughters, ages 18 months and 6 months, were in the home when their mother and aunt were murdered. Key also had a 4-year-old daughter who was not present at the time.
Two memorial funds have been set up for Haarup and Key's children.
Donations can be made to Kansas City Police Credit Union in Kansas City, Mo., or at the Platte Valley Bank in Dearborn, Mo.
Their accused killer, Clifford Miller, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for their deaths.
