Police searching for female after infant's body found near UCM campus

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Police are narrowing their search after the body of an infant was discovered just south of the University of Central Missouri campus.

An autopsy reveals the child was white, but would not release the infant's sex. The Warrensburg Police, along with campus police, are now searching for a white female who would have been expecting to deliver sometime in February or early March, and who may have had suspicious circumstances surrounding the birth.

The burned remains were found at Pertle Springs, a 300-acre public recreation area south of the main campus on Tuesday. Two biology students found the body among a pile of trash inside a cave as they worked on a research project.

UCM Police and the Warrensburg Police Department request that if anyone has any information regarding the investigation, they should contact the confidential hotline at 660-543-4400 or the confidential online form at ucmo.edu/tips.
