Seven injured in train collision, highway collapse in southeast Missouri

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. - Seven people were injured after a freight train collided with another at a rail intersection in southeastern Missouri Friday night.

The train cars, derailed, igniting a fire and triggering the collapse of a highway overpass.

Five people from at least two cars and two train engineers were taken to an area hospital.

The crash involved a Union Pacific train, which t-boned a Burlington Northern-Sante Fe train.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
