All-Star Game will draw crowds KC hasn't seen in years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The All-Star Game will draw crowds the city hasn't seen in years - and Kansas City Police are getting ready for it.

Major Rich Lockhart said the All-Star game events will eclipse even the crowds that came out to the 1985 World Series.

"Basically, that's just a baseball game and you've got one event at the stadium you can plan for that," Lockhart explained. "With this, you've got everything from the red carpet parade on the plaza to the Fan Fest at Bartle Hall which is a big thing. It draws a lot of folks."

Other All-Star events will include a 5K run and walk, celebrity softball game, home run derby and an all-star game featuring minor league stars.
