ST. LOUIS (AP) - Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips has shouted obscenities at a newspaper reporter who commented on the star's sagging on-base percentage.
Phillips directed a short tirade at C. Trent Rosencrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer before Wednesday night's game at St. Louis.
Phillips let loose at Rosencrans in the clubhouse, then interrupted manager Dusty Baker's pregame media session to add a few more comments.
The episode didn't escalate.
Phillips has a .310 on-base percentage for the playoff-contending Reds. He has 95 RBIs and has batted fourth for most of the season, but was moved to the second spot Wednesday.
