Fans pack Kauffman for final home stand

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Royals are about to take the field, and for the first time since August it's standing room only at Kauffman Stadium.

Fans are hoping for a chance at the Wildcard, and refuse to give up on their team.

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster this year with the Royals, and Saturday looks to be another late-season sellout.

Saturday is the next to last home game of the year. The Royals are now 2.5 games out of the Wildcard, but there are several other teams, including the weekend's opponents the Texas Rangers, who are also still in the running.

But the possibility of the Playoffs gives the Kansas City crowd a lot of hope, and they're packing in to watch the games.

For some long-time fans like Patricia Kiely, there is hope for the first time in many years.

"I just looked at my stubs not too long ago and it was $25 for the playoff game and $30 for the World Series game in 1985, but you know it's worth it, paying more is worth it," she said.

The last home game of the regular season is Sunday at 1:10 p.m.
