CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Indians season ticket holder Greg Van Niel had a day he will not soon forget today at Progressive Field.
Van Niel caught four foul balls during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field.
Niel, who was sitting in his season seats along the third baseline, was having so much luck that when he caught his fourth foul ball of the day hit by Indians outfielder Michael Brantley in the fifth inning, he actually turned and flipped the ball to someone in the crowd.
The foul balls were his first, second, third, and fourth of his lifetime at Progressive Field. The Indians Season Ticket Holder exchanged tickets to book seats in Section 160 for Sunday, and it paid off with a memorable afternoon.
After his amazing fortune on Sunday, Van Niel did offer some advice for fellow Indians fans: "We had the exchange tickets, so yeah, I'm going to try to get these seats for next year. Row FF, Section 160, Seat 3 if you're looking for tickets – it's the magic seat."
The Indians said the odds of catching four foul balls in one day are listed at one trillion to one. Maybe Mr. Niel may want to try his luck at the lottery next.
