KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It was an especially late night for some of the Kansas City Royals. They spent the night celebrating with fans after sweeping the American League Division Series.
After the game, some of the players invited fans to celebrate the victory with them at McFadden's Bar in Kansas City's Power & Light District.
Eric Hosmer announced the after-party on Twitter. He thanked fans for their love this season, and to return the favor he used his personal credit card to pay for an open bar for one hour for everyone at McFadden’s.
Boisterous cheers greeted the guys as they walked into the bar just after 1 a.m. The players posed for pictures and stopped to sign autographs. They popped bottles of champagne and showered the fans.
The bar tab totaled approximately $15,000, according to a source in the Royals organization. Hosmer picked up $3,000 on his own, while his teammates split the remaining bill, the source said.
Hosmer said this was the team’s way of thanking fans for hanging in there through the years.
The Royals face the Baltimore Orioles Friday for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.
