KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Royals gave manager Ned Yost the best kind of 'attaboy.'
The club announced Tuesday they signed Yost to a contract extension through the 2013 season.
Yost said this will avoid the distraction of wondering whether he will be back next year.
Moore approached Yost after the 2011 season and asked him about an extension.
Moore also said his intention was always to keep Yost through at least 2013.
Yost took the Royals job in May 2010.
He is the 16th full-time manager in club history.
The Royals are 126-163 during his tenure.
He served as the Milwaukee Brewers manager from 2003 to 2008.
