KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jeremy Guthrie will be staying with the Royals for three more years.
The starting right-handed pitcher on Tuesday signed the new deal with Kansas City through 2015. It's reportedly worth $25 million.
Guthrie went 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 14 starts for the Royals last season. The Royals acquired the 33-year-old Guthrie in a trade from the Colorado Rockies on July 20 in exchange for pitcher Jonathan Sanchez.
Last season, Guthrie fell just short of recording his fourth straight 200-inning season. He is 55-77 with a 4.28 ERA in 210 career appearances. He's made 183 starts for the Indians, Orioles, Rockies and Royals.
