South Korean fan arrives in Kansas City to see the Royals in person

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sung Woo Lee of South Korea traveled to Kansas City to see a Kansas City Royals game in person.

He arrived in Kansas City around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lee said he’s been a lifelong fan since the 1990s. He wakes up in the middle of the night to see them play. He saved up his money to pay for a ticket.

“I’m really happy to come here, Kansas City, and to see some Royals game in person. For a week, I will have a great time for my memory for lifetime. I’d like to say thank you for all of guys to give me a great welcome,” Lee said.

Lee began his journey to Kansas City Monday. He’s been tweeting every chance he gets from his limo ride to his 14 hour flight to San Francisco.

He said he can’t wait to tell his wife and child about all the media attention he received at the airport.

The Pine Tar Press blog , that reports on all things Royals, is helping with the arrangements for Lee’s stay.

Danny Parkins, afternoon host of 610 Sports Radio, has known Lee for more than a year on Twitter.

"I'm helping him out with tickets from 610 radio and then a bunch of other people have just been organizing taking him to barbeque, the Liberty Memorial, the Negro Leagues Museum," Parkins said.
