Kansas 7th, Mizzou 15th in AP preseason Top 25 basketball poll

Kansas and Missouri will both enter 2012 ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason basketball poll.

KU is joined by one conference rival, while Mizzou is joined by two conference foes.

Kansas enters the season as No. 7 in the country. Big 12 counterpart Baylor is No. 19.

The University of Missouri will enter its first basketball season as a member of the SEC as the 15th-ranked team in the country.

Mizzou is joined by perennial SEC powerhouse and defending national champion Kentucky (3) and Florida (10).

Kansas State is one of four other Big 12 teams (joined by Texas, Oklahoma State and West Virginia) to receive votes, but not be ranked in the preseason poll.

Tennessee is the only other SEC team to receive any votes.

Indiana, who returns all five starters, sits atop the preseason poll for the first time since the 1979-80 season.
