Tension builds between KU & Iowa State fans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tension is building in the Power and Light District between two groups of basketball fans.

Iowa State fans are still bitter about their two losses to KU earlier this year. That's why Friday night's big matchup between Iowa State and KU is the most sought after game so far in the Big 12 tournament.

Tickets for this game have been the most difficult to get. On the streets, tickets are selling for as much as $500 for a pair.

Some Iowa State fans blame their losses to KU on the officiating they say favored the Jayhawks.

Kansas has had several opportunities to play at the Sprint Center this year. It's almost like playing at home.

Most people believe KU will be in Kansas City again for the NCAA tournament next week.

But KU's Athletic Director Sheahon Zenger said the Jayhawks don't have an unfair advantage.

"We're not going to apologize for that," he said. "We're Kansas, and we play games where we are told to play."

"You always want play here. Kansas city's home base for us and we love that," Zenger added.

The KU-Iowa State tip off is at 6:30 p.m.

The Kansas State-Oklahoma State is at 9:00 p.m.
