KU student newspaper fires up Charlie Weis

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Charlie Weis didn't need to search far for a way to motivate his players for Saturday's clash with in-state rival Kansas State. The Kansas football coach fired off some angry tweets after seeing the headline of the University Daily Kansan that read "Road Kill Ahead."

The headline was accompanied by an illustration of a muscular Willie the Wildcat chasing a timid Jayhawk up the goalpost. There was nothing timid about Weis' response to the student newspaper. He vented on Twitter.

"Team slammed by our own school newspaper. Amazing! No problem with opponents paper or local media. You deserve what you get! But, not home! I could personally care less. You are what are. On the other hand, if I don't support the players good or bad, who will??"

The Jayhawks are 24-point underdogs to the Wildcats. Kansas has lost three straight games in the series.
